OEKOMEDIA-FILMFESTIVAL FREIBURG (Germany) 2001
PRIX LEONARDO PARMA (I) 2001
Aberdeen, Scotland, 1998:
A supposedly harmless test, using genetically modified potatoes, leads to the abrupt end of the long research careers of the scientists involved. Because they refused to keep their startling results from the public, they were pilloried by the scientific establishment and the biotech-industry and accused of perpetrating a hoax.
It was a case that raised far-reaching questions: Is the freedom of science a myth? Are there such people as neutral experts? And who decides what directions research should and should not follow?
